Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem out of place, but the developments of episode 3 show why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and warns that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could help the group access places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them little choice but to head to the remote area in search of the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Seekers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
