Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have come under increased attacks in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while local people in the city's east were left without electricity and dealt with problems to water supplies, as stated by city officials.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was killed in a different assault in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Russian forces has intensified strikes on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while officials has demanded "substantial measures" from partner nations to apply pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not window dressing but decisive action - from the US, Europe and the G7 - in supplying defensive weapons and applying penalties," mentioned in a online statement.

Officials stated that 450 drones and over thirty rockets targeted energy facilities, describing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were laboring to restore power.

A series of attacks struck energy infrastructure and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Multiple people hurt in the attacks on the city have been hospitalized, per statements from city authorities.
