Automobiles in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Officers mentioned they were contacted by a resident who found a car in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Officers say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then found many other smeared cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.

City officials stated they were working "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.

A high-ranking representative commented the attack rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed rapidly.

"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in five years prior.
